mama bari - GIVING HOPE TO IMPOVERISHED BANGLADESHI GIRLS
Yasmeen’s Foundation had the pleasure of meeting and gaining a deep understanding of the Mama Bari Trust that is dedicated to helping impoverished girls in one of the poorest cities in the world, Dhaka Bangladesh. For the past 12 years, Mahboob, the founder and visionary behind Mama Bari, has dedicated his life to helping over 100 children that come from the streets of Dhaka and surround his humble home and transformed their lives through education, compassion and hope. Without Mama Bari, these girls would not be in school learning valuable life skills and would instead be married at very young ages or working on the streets or in the sub-standard factories of Bangladesh. Mahboob and his respected board of trustees have built an incredible organization and Yasmeen’s Foundation is honoured to work with a local charity that is so well aligned with its mission and objectives.
Yasmeen’s Tech Hub
With public schools closed for most of the pandemic, Yasmeen’s Foundation was able to sponsor a technology hub for all the girls to gather and continue their education remotely. Most recipients of Mama Bari’s charitable services do not have access to computing hardware, smartphones or reliable internet service. Yasmeen’s Tech Hub in Bangladesh was able to help resolve that issue and continues to be a great place to meet, collaborate and get school work done.
